Yoga Teacher Training: Continuing Education Opportunities

Choosing a career as a yoga teacher can be lonely. We lack in ‘water cooler’ time, the debrief, the peer connect, that so many other professions take for granted. We can work in a fair bit of isolation with only our clients for feedback. This is where continuing education is so key. Yes, hone your skills, beef up your knowledge and widen your expertise AND, build community, and find allies and peers! Take time for you to remember you.

When you chose this career, you chose you. Remember that. Yoga is a transformative practice and more so when you step into the role of teacher. But it is easy to get lost in the swirl of income generation and branding. It is easy to lose the heart of why you started. Get the heart back. Come home to you through soul-nourishing continuing education opportunities with Allie.

UPCOMING WORKSHOPS

The Power of Touch, A Workshop for Hands-on Assisting

Touch has the capacity to give your yoga students a sense of true belonging within your class and within their own bodies. It can guide a pose to a deeper, more healing space. As a teacher, learning the language of hands-on assisting, can open up ways to connect with your students and adjust them without actually ever touching them!

Touch can communicate where words fail, and using words to describe touch can reach your students in ways you never imagined.

This workshop flows between lecture style with demonstrations, followed by practice with feedback, and finally a debrief. We will explore various ways to touch plus the language needed to make an assist safe and powerful. From light sensory touch, to stabilizing alignment, to touch that shows rotation, you will have the opportunity to experience all of it in a variety of poses.

If you are ready to deepen your capacity for connection

If you want your classes to be safe havens of healing

If you are ready to step fully into your true calling as a powerful leader…

Meet me here.

The Power of Private Yoga Sessions

Have you been wondering if one-on-one sessions might be the missing link for you? Private sessions have the capacity to increase your income; deepen your impact with clients; and potentially reach those who are not comfortable with coming into a group class.

In this workshop, we are going to discuss

  • Why? What are the benefits of this format?

  • Who? What clients might be right for this?

  • What? How might you structure sessions? Payment schedules? Promotion?

Private sessions can be completely different from group classes! From infusing the sessions with more assists like a massage to navigating the inevitable moments when trauma or old stories arise and your client needs to release, this workshop will set you up to be ready for all of it.

May 7th 7-9pm Online

Cost: $88  (20% discount for any grads or current trainees)

Intro to Thai Yoga Massage

In this intro workshop, Andrea and Allie will walk you through many of the elements of a full Thai yoga massage plus explore ways that this method can be moved to a massage table. Whether working on the floor or on a table, there are incredible techniques to enable a client’s body to release of its own accord as opposed to, or along with, palpation.

This workshop is open to massage therapists who want to add manual stretching and fascial awareness to their sessions. Also to yoga teachers who want either to add to their roster of assist methods or deepen their private yoga sessions.

Sat. June 13 1-5, Sun. June 14 10am-3pm

Yoga Massage: A Workshop With Allie Chisholm-Smith & Andrea Johnston

Winter 2025, TBA
This workshop is designed for certified Yoga Instructors, RMT's & other bodyworkers

Yoga Massage combines the traditional method of palpation with deep stretching to affect fascial restrictions and patterns of holding. This powerful modality allows both therapist and client to experience the benefits of yoga postures while being assisted and held to release. We will explore traditional Thai massage and an adaptive approach to work on a massage table.

By the end of the weekend you will have:

  • The ability to conduct a one-hour massage session

  • A certificate of completion with the caveat that hours of practice are needed

  • An ability to perform a massage both on a table and on the floor

  • A series of movements and palpations to address multiple needs for your clients

The information shared in this workshop is a culmination of our experience and training as both yoga instructors and massage practitioners.

Together, Allie and Andrea have created a series of movements and palpation techniques that have helped our clients to both feel better and embrace yoga as a means of creating less pain and greater freedom in their lives.
