Intentions & Shadows

During my single days I remember setting an intention that I would go on some dates. I wanted to go out on dates. A few weeks later, long after forgetting said intention, I found myself in the grocery store throwing dates into a produce bag as though the armageddon of dates was coming. I stopped in my frenzy and asked "why am I doing this? I don't even really like dates!" And then it came to me. I had a good laugh, looked up and said "not that kind of date! Very funny!"

Have you noticed when your thoughts manifest like that? Have you noticed that there are times where this process seems accelerated and amplified, as though all of your thoughts are materializing? I think we are in one of those times. We are in a process of such deep change and radical restructuring that sparks of intention are catching everywhere and blazing into fires. With so much falling apart, so much that we relied on no longer being reliable, the bursts of new possibilities are palpable.

The word shraddha is a complex word that relates to our deepest held beliefs. Sometimes I have heard it defined as the positive way in which we set intention in order to manifest our deepest driving desires in life. That is true. It is also true however that shraddha can be seen in our inner messaging of doubt and sabotage. How often have you longed to create X and yet, like Sisyphus, the rock keeps falling back down?

For all of the tea in China, we can repeat over and over again that we are worthy of love or wealth or a longer healthier life but if we haven’t done our inner shadow work, this is not going to hold. Our shadows will instead appear and overwhelm our realities.

This may sound all woo-woo and airy fairy to you but look around at your life. What do you see that you have thought, including the dark shadows of doubt that you carry with you?

You, yes you, are very powerful. It is time for us all to get on board with that and begin to take a managerial role over our thoughts, actions and our lives. We must become good stewards, mindful managers and excellent creatures living on a beautiful planet.
