Maintenance of the Web
I thrive on connection. Two of my top five strengths are connector and relator. My top top is strategic. Another one is developer, which is the strength of helping others develop themselves to reach their peak potential.
What this means to me is that my strategies are all about connecting to others in a deep way that builds relationships so that we all grow stronger.
Like a spider who thinks while weaving its web, I am constantly seeking and finding ways to connect you to me.
This is why I teach, train and coach.
In class last Tuesday we did a lot of sinus releases including ear massages. I joked that our ears would be luminescent for all of the heat that we were pulling out of that deep base of skull fascia. I said this because of an experience I had with a long-time client and friend whose ears literally looked like Rudolph’s nose after her massage.
I had put traction on her ears and felt my hands and arms shaking for all of the tension being released. It felt like a really beautiful memory of connection and I was laughing inside as Sandra and I had laughed after her session. I heard on Thursday morning that Sandra Withers had drowned in Fairy Lake.
You know those moments. I know you have had them. It wasn’t my inner circle but she was my people. I have known her for years. I knew that she got a lot out of our time together but I also knew she was making sure she played a part in my thriving. That was who she was.
She believed in all of us succeeding and having fun doing it. I hadn’t seen Sandra since COVID started but I always knew she was there. She was one of the first that heard me say that I was no longer doing massage. She said she wanted to make sure I was coming out of the pandemic okay.
A strand of my web is flapping in the breeze. That is the only way I can describe it.
I have no doubt that the memory of her ears came intentionally to prepare me for what was to come. Like so many who die suddenly, they seem to let us all know. My friend Jamie’s last act was to mail me a birthday card years ago. We do know. Just like I knew a month ago that I needed to take a week off. I see now why that timing was so perfect.
I’m going to retreat as of Thursday morning at Northern Edge and then take a week at our oasis in Algonquin.
I’m going to do some maintenance on my web, clearing stories that don’t need to be there anymore and nourishing those that do. This is fundamental work for us connectors and relators. We have to dust and vacuum.
How are you doing? Are you listening to your web? What maintenance is needed?
Do it.
Om Shanti,
allie
